Selecting game modes at the start of a new game. These modes would be Normal and Kontra (don't have to worry about making people happy).

To gain the full experience of the game, you could of course choose Normal. However, for someone who doesn't want to stop what they're doing to go through a series of chatting that they don't really care about just to make their nobles happy, they could choose the Kontra game mode. Kontra mode plays to the lore of the game. In Kontra mode, your nobles recognize you as a deity and worship you. You still have to woo over newcomers same as the base game, but once someone is in your kingdom you no longer have to worry about making them happy as they will worship you.

This is exactly what I was thinking! If your prestige is 100, any nobles who have an expectation of 100 or lower would worship you. If you wanted someone with a higher prestige expectation to worship you, then you would just have to get your prestige higher. This could also implement the idea of building a statue maybe? The statue of yourself could apply more prestige. (That's just an extra idea though, more importantly I think the game could really use a Kontra mode).

For sure. I think the balance of the game so far is great. I wouldn't want to eliminate features that have been worked hard on. Maybe calling it a "Casual" mode would be good. Of course, it seems that some of the difficulties with unhappy nobles is related to a few bugs that the devs are already aware of and working on fixing. (so not an intended challenge of the game)

But I think a more 'casual' mode where the Noble's happiness is simply based on their prestige : ambition ratio would be a welcome option for many of us.

But I don't want all the work by the devs of the balance and nuance of the characters needs and desires to go unseen, or acknowledged. It is fantastic and well implemented. Not trying to suck up. I just understand how much thought and effort goes into making systems like these work. And I don't want to come off like I wish they weren't there, or that the game would be simply better without them.

I would love this! Maybe their happiness could be based on their prestige only, and not be affected by the more petty things like not liking the materials of their clothes.

This is interesting - something we'll think about. Thanks for the suggestion!
