Lots of crashes when fighting fires

I didn't notice a fire at the edge of my map until it grew really huge (took up about 50+ trees). Every time I have tried to fight it, I have crashed. Maybe it's the size of the fire, I'm not sure. But it keeps crashing. Suddenly all of the fire disappears and I know it's a crash. And sure enough, the game isn't responding, and the crash error window comes up.

(By the way, are these crashes actually being sent to the developers by default? If so I'll stop reporting those here.)

Also, even though all of my nobles are set to fire fighting as their top priority, they keep doing other tasks anyway. I have gone through every task I had queued and took off the rush priority, but it doesn't help. They still just do their own thing. This fire is pretty big, and I have 16 nobles, so I should really be able to fight it better..... if they all stuck to their top priority task.
