Migrants feature for mid to end game
I want the game to challenge me to build bigger by throwing a challenge at me - migrants!
This would be a random mid-to-end game event - for when you have the accumulated wealth to respond!
I like the current early game where you have to be active to grow your numbers by talking to folks.
Late game, your abilities and wealth grow - these allow you to respond to a challenge of supporting more nobles than before!
- Regular migrants, seeking a place to live. Nothing fancy.
- Long term visitors, perhaps from another kingdom, with certain expectations of living conditions.
- Relatives of existing nobles?
The key here is that this would not require player action to initiate, it would be the game automatically challenging the player once they have the resources to respond to such a challenge!
Some players prefer small kingdom, so three options should always exist:
- Accept the incoming nobles to your kingdom
- Reject them and give them some coin or food to carry on somewhere else
- Reject them and keep your wealth to yourself
Each would have consequences.
This feature is shown to work very well in other games, I think because it is something that happens TO the player, instead of the player being in full control of what happens.
Again, current system of player being in control works well early game I think, but late game this would be a worthwhile addition.
