Ability to have choices for lineage/who rules

I'm really looking forward to seeing how things develop with this game, especially the aging mechanics.
I haven't progressed far but from what I understand, there's no ability to have children/heirs yet.
If it's within the scope you imagine for the game, I was wondering if it'd be possible to choose between a few options for succession;
1. A pseudo-democracy where the ruler can be de-crowned and another person chosen if their popularity is low enough or they get too old (insert other crown-loss condition here).
2. The ruler could select a non-related heir, and it's essentially another version of the intro choice, but including all of your current nobles, and you continue with your current kingdom.
3. Hereditary lineage. you need at least one heir to take the throne if your current ruler dies.

Again I'm not sure how much of this fits within the planned scale of the game, but it could be interesting to explore if it's not in the cards already.
